Fiber U is all about promoting Fiber Arts education in the Midwest and providing the opportunity to expand your knowledge and skill in working with fiber. There is a wide assortment of classes available for both the beginners and the experienced artisans alike. You can take up to SIX classes for a flat registration fee (plus any additional material fee), but you must pre-register as classes are limited in size and are filled on a first come basis. Class and registration will open mid March each year, so please check back.
HOW TO REGISTER: Print out the registration form and fill in the required information (one form per person please). Choose your top 8 classes and list with #1 being the one you want to take the most. MAIL in your signed registration form with ONLY your registration fee made payable to Fiber U. You will be sent an e-mail confirming receipt of your registration and the class(es) you have a reserved space in. Please do not send in your material fees until you are invoiced for them. Classes are not confirmed until all material fees are received. If your material fees are not paid by the indicated due date, your space may be given to someone else on the waiting list. If you wish to register for classes AFTER June 23rd, please e-mail your list of classes to info@fiber-u.com first to see if they are still available and receive your total amount due.
REGISTRATION HINTS: Narrow down your class selections. Then go to the Class By Time page (this is a listing off all the classes by the time they start and also where classes that are full will be noted in bold print). If you are taking a class and need to rent a spinning wheel or loom, please be sure and indicate that on your registration form.
CANCELLATIONS & REFUNDS: Cancellations are accepted in writing up to June 8, 2024 with 100% of registration fees and material fees refunded. After June 8, 2024, only material fees will be refunded. Students who check-in at the event but do not attend their class will not receive any refund. Cancellations due to “acts of God” will be assessed on an individual basis.
FACEBOOK: We also have a Facebook business page called Fiber U where you can share our event with your friends. This page will also be used by our vendors to target shoppers with some posts about what types of products they will be selling in their booths.

STATE BOOTHS: Unique advertising opportunity for EVERYONE….There will be 9 state booths representing MO and the 8 surrounding states. Each fiber resource is eligible to place a pin (with a number) on their state map. That number will correspond with a 9” x 12” space on tables in that booth where you can place your business cards, brochures, coupons, sales list… you name it- only rule is that it must lay flat on the table. You are responsible for bringing and putting the items on the table and taking them home at the end of the weekend. This way only the folks who want your material will take them. No stall space to stay in, no booth to watch.
DEMONSTRATIONS: Numerous demonstrations will be held throughout the weekend by vendors and area fiber guilds. A special area, “Crafter’s Corner” has been set aside if you just want to sit and spin, or knit and crochet- so bring your wheel, your projects and sit and visit with new friends and old!
FIBER ARTIST SHOWCASE: A special area has been set aside for the Fiber Artist Showcase where ANY Fiber Artist (beginner to advanced) can display their work for everyone to enjoy. Covered tables will be provided. It is recommended that you bring a pre-printed index card describing your item, method used, and materials and any display materials you may need. General public will be encouraged to visit this area.
DINING: The concession stand will be open only for lunch at the Civic Center or you can travel less than one mile to over a dozen fast food chains. Please do not bring in outside food when concession stand is open for lunch.
FIBER COLLECTION: Fiber U is an excellent opportunity to take advantage of FREE shipping and/or discounted pick-up of your fibers. Please check with the respective mills, groups or companies for packaging, required labeling and identification instructions. ALL fiber for NEAFP must placed in boxes. We recommend that you vacuum pack it. Any unboxed fiber left will not be shipped on the pallet-no exceptions. The following will be collecting at Fiber U.
- NEAFP (www.neafp.com)
- HLA Fiber Mill (www.hlafibermill.com)
- If you are bringing fiber, please do not bring it through the lobby- drive around to the large doors at the back. Carts will be available to help with unloading. Boxes for NEAFP will need to be weighed in, recorded and placed on the appropriate pallet to be shipped. Please help on shipping costs by removing as much air from your bags of fiber and using smaller boxes.
VENDORS: All Vendors are to be from MO or the 8 surrounding states and be a resource in the fiber industry. Please contact Liz Mitchko at 417–664-6988 or info@fiber-u.com for vendor application or look on the Forms page for an application. Current vendors have until the last day of the current show to keep their booth for the following year. We will begin to accept applications for 2025 on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at Fiber U for new vendors to be put on a waiting list.
